Terry GoodkindIn 1994 Wizard's First Rule was published, it was by a new writer named Terry Goodkind (1948-).The fee paid for the novel was the highest one ever to be paid to a debut fantasy author ($275,000!). Terry Goodkind has got dyslexia and he had trouble keeping up in school. In high school finally one of his teachers noted his writing talent. Terry Goodkind has had many professions before he decided to write, among others he has worked as a carpenter, violin maker and hypnotherapist. He started writing his first novel in 1993 and it was released in October 1994. Notes on the different characters in the book had been put on paper since 1983 when Goodkind and his wife bought some land and started building their own house. Terry Goodkind is a big music lover and likes to listen to music while writing, and the music range from Enya to AC/DC. One can imagine that AC/DC is cranked up while writing the fighting scences. His first novel, "Wizard's First Rule", was the start of a series called "Swords of Truth", which up to now consists of five parts: Wizard's First Rule (1994), Stone of Tears (1995), Blood of the Fold (1996), Temple of the Winds (1997) and Soul of the Fire (1999). The first book starts right after the murder of the father of Richard Cypher, the main charcter. Lacking of motive and suspects he goes out seeking his father's killer and the story takes off. - A bibliography over Terry Goodkind's books
