David EddingsDuring the 80's David (Carroll) Eddings (1931-) became one of the biggest authors in the fantasy-genre. His debut was High Hunt (1973) which is a thriller about five men whose conflicts with each other will show during a deerhunt. The book didn't sell that well, and nine years passed by before the next novel got published, but that one became a bestseller. Pawn of Prophecy (1982) with the subtitle "Book one of Belgariad" was followed by four other novels: Queen of Sorcery (1982), Magician's Gambit (1983), Castle of Wizardry (1984) and Enchanter's End Game (1984).The series became a success and was followed by five more novels taking place in the same world. From the beginning the books were meant to be a trilogy, but the publisher refused to publish novels that were about 600 pages each, that's why Edding had to edit them into five volumes. The story is about a simple boy named Garion, who turns out to be inheritor of the throne. Together with his closest once he are forced to elipe from the farm to make a journey cross the country to forfill quests. The second series "The Mallorean" included Guardians of the West (1987, King of the Murgos (1988), Demon Lord of Karanda (1988), Sorceress of Darshiva (1989) and The Seeress of Kell (1991). This story is about finding the lost son of King Garion. Eddings has also published two other trilogys: "The Elenium" and "The Tamuli". It was when Eddings became translated to swedish in the beginning of the 90s that fantasy became popular here in Sweden. - A bibliography over David Eddings books
